Substitute Teachers

 Substitute Handbooks
The Boy Scout's motto is "Always Be Prepared" and a substitute teacher should also have that motto. Each school or district has its own set of rules and regulations, this makes it necessary for the the substitute to have written instructions to maintain order and to assist the students as they learn.

The "Substitute Handbook" is an essential part of the safe healthy learning environment which; is the goal of all schools.

Franklin County Schools is one of the school districts who is sharing their substitute teacher handbook.

A thank you goes to all four districts below who have shared their handbooks online.

S.O.S.— Save Our Substitutes  (Michigan Ed Association) It may not be in your lesson plans right now, but sometime in the future you're probably going to miss a day of school and you'll need a substitute. Subs are like Santa's elves-they do the work when the big guy isn't around. Subs will do a better job if you make sure everything they need is marked and handy. http://www.mea.org/newmembers/k12/4_saveoursubstitutes.html
Substitute Teacher Resources (Teacher Vision) Prepare your class for your absence with our substitute teacher printables and references. Use these classroom management resources to provide substitutes with emergency contact information, directions, and a daily schedule. Our lesson planning kits provide great icebreakers for substitutes and plenty of fun, educational activities for elementary and intermediate students. Feedback forms will help you gather important information about a substitute's experience in your classroom. http://www.teachervision.fen.com/classroom-management/resource/6284.html
